Staff from Nottingham's leading entertainment venue raised over a thousand pounds for the When You Wish Upon a Star charity.

To raise the cash the intrepid bunch from Alea on Upper Parliament Street took part in a number of events including the Nottingham leg of the grueling Men's Health Survival of the Fittest challenge and the annual Santa Christmas run which took place at the Forest Recreation Ground earlier in December.
Both events have become firm favourites on the Nottingham calendar attracting thousands of competitors to each.
The Men's Health challenge is particularly brutish including some fiendish obstacles such as an army assault course, lung-busting dash up and down the stairs of Nottingham Forest's City Ground and a double-dunk medley of obstacles that saw contestants wade through a grimy skip filled with muck and murky water and icy plunge pool.
Fortunately the Santa run was a bit more sedate taking in the Victoria Embankment in Nottingham.
The money will now go to the charity which makes true the wishes of children suffering from life threatening illnesses such as helicopter flights or meeting celebrities like Ant and Dec.
Heading the team from Alea was the venue's marketing manager Rebecca Deaville who lead from the front at both events.
Rebecca said: "Both events were real fun although the Men's Health challenge did leave us all a little bruised afterwards.
"However when you understand how the money raised will be used by the charity puts into perspective that a few bumps and bruises is nothing in comparison to what these young children have to go through.
"We hope now that our efforts will provide a child and their family something they will always remember helping them forget about hospital visits, doctor's appointments and the gruelling treatments that have become part of their daily routine."
