Nottingham's leading entertainment venue has appointed Nigel Jemson as its new business development manager.

Based at Alea on Upper Parliament Street, the former Nottingham Forest footballer will now be in charge of looking after the venue's VIP clientele as well as generating new business contacts, developing customer relationships and promoting the venue's first class entertainment and meeting facilities.

A well-known and respected sporting personality, Nigel enjoyed a successful football career during the 80s and 90s including time under the legendary Brian Clough.

He will now use his connections with Nottingham Forest Football Club and the wider business and sporting community to enhance Alea's reputation as the premier entertainment venue but also a place that is perfect for hosting meetings, conferences and banquets.

Holding a level 3 UEFA coaching badge Nigel has coached at a variety of clubs as well as establishing a fashion boutique with his wife in Newark.

More recently he has been helping out at Nottingham Forest on match days making sure sponsors of the club get the most out of their support for the former European champions.

Nigel said: "I'm thoroughly looking forward to showcasing Alea to those looking for a first class evening's entertainment and hosting those who already know how good it is.

"I'll also be approaching prospective businesses to highlight how Alea is an ideal choice for meetings and conferences not to mention it's pedigree as being one of the best entertainment venues in the East Midlands.

"With a brand new Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill also on site we've got the perfect package for those looking for a top night out.

"My experience in football has put me in front of a wide range of people, including the great Brian Clough, so I'm looking forward to putting that experience to good use here at Alea.

"I am particularly excited knowing Alea is such a major element of the Caesars Entertainment group which also includes the world-renowned Ceasar's Palace in Las Vagas."

Mark Hands, venue director at Alea added: "Nigel is a natural communicator and is very well connected across the area. His arrival enhances our relationship with the football club which, as it strives for promotion to the top flight, reflects our ambition to become the number one entertainment venue in the whole of the East Midlands.

"To have played and coached at the top level also shows that he can get along with a range of people from all walks of life. It's this experience and knowledge that will help push the fantastic facilities we have got here and wish Nigel well in his new role."

Opened in 2007 following an investment of £15 million Alea is operated by London Clubs International (LCI) whose American parent company, Harrah's owns  Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
